Report (Courtesy of Mark Smith)
Heyford
Ressies first home game of the season saw the visit of local
rivals Kislingbury. After last weeks promising start a hard
fought 4-2 loss against Corby Madisons, the management team
of Hesketh and Wincott were hopeful of a good performance. A
few changes were enforced due to various reasons, Jock through
injury Bradstreet and Bruce unavailable and the late withdrawal
of Genti who played excellently the previous week. The starting
team still looked very strong still with Dan Hawkins coming
in for Genti, Joe Gartland for Jock and Richard Briscoe for
Bradstreet along with Ian Grant and Lee Price being handed their
first starts of the season, added to this Mossy was in goal
due to there being no 1st team game so the problem of having
no keeper for the Reserves was disguised for another week.
The game started very evenly with not many shots for either
team, Heyford got more into their stride as the half wore on
and there was some promising link up play without the Kislingbury
keeper having to make a serious save. Midway through the 1st
half Kisl took the lead after a breakaway from their speedy
right winger who looked quite dangerous for most of the game.
It was 1 nil at the interval with neither keeper having being
worked very hard during the first period.
The
second half saw a change in tactics with Heyford resorting to
4-5-1 formation with Smudger left up front on his own . This
would have been an effective change had the midfield got forward
to support although sadly more often than not this did not happen
and Smith was left an isolated figure.
As
the half progressed JC was coming more to the fore and was playing
some good balls forward down the Heyford left and one such ball
resulted in the Heyford equalizer scored by Ian Grant on his
full debut. A long ball saw confusion between two defenders
and Granty sneaked in to slip the ball past the stranded keeper
for an excellent finish.
Smudger was still getting worked hard alone up top with Kislingbury
playing the ball out from the back at every opportunity but
the game remained very even and became a bit of a stalemate.
The three Heyford subs all got a decent run out and everyone
contributed in a hard fought first point of the season.
Match
Summary:
Overall
a deserved point although maybe a hint of disappointment we
didn't take all 3. Things look a lot more promising this season
although we definitely need to find a goalkeeper, Stan how are
you fixed?????
Future
reports will hopefully be alot more informative and accurate
as I have only just been given the job lol

Man of the Match: Mark Smith
Smudger
I think purely to stop his moaning after being stranded up front
alone (nothing to do with the fact he is now our new Reserve
Team match reporter!). Bring on Corby Madisons in the Cup lets
get our first win lads!!!!!!
