In
the latest of this new feature, www.Heyfordfc.co.uk took the
opportunity to catch up with striker Ian Grant to ask him the
questions everyone has been afraid to ask.
Granty
or 'the Real Grant' as he is fondly known joined Heyford in
the summer of 2008. As you can see from the below Granty is
a real journeyman despite his tender years.
On
joining the club we were informed that Granty was a left back
although as you can also see from the below this was an absolute
load of tosh as he now tells us he is a striker!
Despite
having more clubs than Jack Nicklaus, Granty really seems to have
settled at Heyford and some would even say he has now found his
second home. A hugely popular member of the squad who more recently
has been known to be one of the first up for a night in town,
especially if best mates Noel and Lacey are going!
Bit
of a lightweight when it comes to drinking, although impressed
on the recent Pub Golf as you can see from his picture!
On
the subject of being a lightweight some would argue he can be
a bigger lightweight on the pitch as he is often blown over
by the breeze (I know the wind is generally stronger the closer
you get to water - Heyford brook!).
On
a more serious note Granty can be the scorer of spectacular goals,
a number of which seem to be lobs from outside the box, something
which he rarely lets us forget!
Big
things are expected of Granty this season as the Reserves look
to secure promotion back to the Reserve Premier Division - this
is something he will need to deliver on as competition for places
is fierce and failure to impress could see him back in the wilderness
of the left wing!

HEYFORD
FOOTBALL CLUB
What
are your aims both personally and for the team this season?
Personally 20 goals although Mark Smith has targeted me 40 and
club for the title (both teams)
What
is your favourite moment in a Heyford shirt?
My goal over at Bugbrooke - volley across keeper into far top
corner & all in front of 1st team management duo!!
What
attracted you to join Heyford?
Old Whitty (Pete) had been trying for about 10yrs then I bumped
into Hedges who again said about it so I thought why not?! Am
glad I did, awesome bunch of lads!! Load of new mates &
got told I'd play up front!!
How
would you describe your Heyford career to date?
Poor, I didn't get into it and wasn't fit. I scored 5 and finished
top scorer - as good as it got. As a team we struggled however
this season though the club looks much stronger and I'm expecting
big things from myself and team.
Do you have any predictions for the League
/ Cups this season (Northants Comb)?
League - 1st & Ressies to win. Cup - no idea, not interested
in anyone else but I'll go Brixworth as I've heard of them.
Who
is the toughest opponent you have played against?
Not bothered by opponents, in training though I'll go Lacey!
He is the skipper!!
Fast
forward to May and what would you see as a successful season
both on a personal and team level?
May - teams to win title. I can see it happening and if I can
score and help us do it, I'll be well happy.
Which
ground are you most looking forward to visiting this season
and why?
Heyford - I score more goals at home, I think it's the crowd
chanting my nickname. Did I tell you my nickname was pint of
fosters and smokey bacon!!
And
your least favourite (and why)?
Haven't got one
What
have you thought about pre-season?
Pre-season for me has been good, I needed it!! My personal circumstances
changed meaning I could make training and in the friendlies
I've felt sharp, hitting 4 goals. I am confident I can achieve
my targets and that we'll win league! Top banter down club too!
